Features

Everything a business needs from SMS

An app on your phone and a dashboard in your browser. smsportal handles sending, receiving and integrations.

  • Send from your own number

Customers see a number they recognize and can simply reply. No anonymous senders or gateway numbers.

  • Receive replies

Incoming SMS reach the dashboard, the API and your webhooks. The conversation does not end after one message.

  • Bulk sending from CSV

Upload a file, map the columns and personalize text with variables such as {{ name }} or {{ date }}.

  • Scheduled sending

Set the send date and time through the API. Reminders go out exactly when they should.

  • REST API and signed webhooks

Send with a single HTTP request. Get received and delivered events signed with HMAC.

  • Several phones, SIM choice

Connect more devices as volume grows. On dual-SIM phones you choose which card sends.

How it works

Three steps to your first SMS

No integrator, no gateway contract and no sender registration. All you need is an Android 7.0+ phone and an active SIM.

Scan with your phone camera to download

Android 7.0 or newer
  1. Step 1

Create an account and get the app

Signing up takes a minute. Download the Android app directly from this page.

  2. Step 2

    Connect your phone

Scan the QR code from the dashboard or paste an API key. Grant the app SMS permissions.

  3. Step 3

    Send the way you work

From the dashboard, the API, your automations or by asking an AI agent. Replies come back where you need them.

Automations

  • Online stores

Order status, parcel ready for pickup, payment reminders. From your store’s number.

  • Repair shops and garages

  • IT teams and automations

Monitoring alerts, one-time codes and notifications from n8n, Make or your own scripts.

FAQ

Questions before you start

Short answers to what businesses ask before connecting a phone. Technical details are in the API documentation.

No. Messages go out from the SIM in your phone, so customers see a number they already know. The phone needs mobile coverage, internet access and SMS permissions.

smsportal does not charge per message. You pay a flat platform plan and your carrier bills SMS according to your tariff. On plans with unlimited SMS you usually pay nothing extra.

Yes. The phone sends and receives messages, so it needs power, coverage and internet. If it briefly loses connection, messages wait in the queue for up to 72 hours and go out once it is back.

By default a phone sends one message every 5 seconds, up to 720 per hour. Spread higher volume across several phones. Your carrier may also apply its own SIM limits.

The gateway must be an Android 7.0+ phone, because iOS does not let apps send SMS in the background. The dashboard, API and MCP work in any browser and operating system.

Yes, for customers who have opted in. For campaigns to tens of thousands of numbers a classic gateway is a better fit, because carriers may restrict bulk sending from consumer SIM plans.

Through the MCP server and an API key you create in the dashboard. The agent only sees your account’s phones and messages. Revoke the key at any time to remove access.

No. smsportal.app is a Polish service that sends SMS from your own Android phone. It is not affiliated with SMSPortal (Pty) Ltd of Cape Town (smsportal.com), so their reviews and prices do not apply to us.

No. Acceptance means the message is queued. The actual status depends on the phone, the network and the delivery report. Check it in the dashboard, through the API, a webhook or an MCP tool.
